Willard T BASCOM and Susan SANDERS family

Willard Theodore "Dora" Bascom was born 4 January 1868 in Ohio County, Indiana. He was the only son of Robert Bruce Bascom and Olive Bovard, although he did have an older half brother, Edward.

He married Susan "Susie" Sanders on 28 May 1891 in Switzerland County, Indiana. Susan was born 14 Mar 1870 in Indiana to George W Sanders and Sarah Jane Dunning.

Willard and Susan lived in Aaron, Switzerland County, Indiana after they were married. Willard was appointed postmaster of Aaron on 26 Jun 1896 and served until 28 April 1897. They moved to Cass Township, Ohio County, Indiana by 1900 where Willard worked as a farm laborer.

By 1908, the family had moved to Aurora, Dearborn County, Indiana. There Willard worked as a jeweler, gardener, and a laborer at a livery.

In 1925, Willard, Susan, and the families of their two sons moved to Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. Willard owned a few different businesses with his son George, including a fruit business and Bascom Fish & Poultry Market. In his later years, he worked odd jobs.

Susan died on 16 January 1927 in Hamilton after suffering burns when her apron caught on fire. Willard died in Hamilton on 30 March 1934. They were both buried in Bovard Cemetery in Cotton Township, Switzerland County, Indiana.

Willard and Susan had 3 children:
  1. Dewey Francis Bascom (6 May 1898 - 2 Jun 1975) married Alice Susan Hillis (1 Apr 1896 - 31 Jul 1979)
  2. George Robert Bascom (14 Jun 1902 - 7 May 1990) married 1st Mary Starkey (30 Jan 1902 - 17 Nov 1968) and married 2nd Gladys E (18 May 1908 - 18 Dec 1981).
  3. A daughter who died before 1900.
